AWAHNICHI AND TALKING GHOSTS
AWAHNICHI AND TALKING GHOSTS is the new project lead by former El Olio Wolof frontman RC. After years of playing solo as Awahnichi, and a short stint as a three piece releasing the debut Awahnichi record, 500 Seeds. The three piece dissolved and once again RC again began tromping around playing solo shows with old friends and completely writing and recording the second Awahnichi record at his home studio in Merced, CA.
RC became distracted by the yearning to once again work collaboratively while on a road trip with partner and band mate Vanessa Hofmann. The result is AWAHNICHI AND TALKING GHOSTS that combines Awahnichi bandmate Vanessa Hofmann, El Olio Wolof bandmate Brian Strong, Eye of Aquila drummer Joey Neves, and long time friend Nicole Butticci-Weston.
With the goal of elevating AWAHNICHI’s dark narrative, AWAHNICHI AND TALKING GHOSTS incorporates upbeat organs and bass, with shake your hips percussion. The group began writing the new record in November of 2022 with their first show only being a little over two months away on January 20th 2023 in Modesto CA.
AWAHNICHI AND TALKING GHOSTS head in to the studio in February to record the sophmore AWAHNICHI album.
